on witnessing a genocide

Witnessing a genocide I feel: enraged, exhausted, maddened, anxious, somber, isolated, powerless, outside my body, depressed, dysregulated, irritable, angry, tired, horrified, disgusted, guilt when happy

If any of these are true for you, know that you are a treasure. your humanity is not lost. your capacity to feel these things is deeply intertwined with your capacity to ache for those who are oppressed.

I know your energy is depleted and your heart breaks different ways each day. But let your spirit bask in the glow of greats who have come before us: “You have something in this world, so stand for it.” -Ghassan Kanafani

Find what you need to stoke your inner fire. Return to your roots, touch the earth, feel your community, embrace the wisdoms of your ancestors.

Let your voice vibrate in the tune of justice, let your heartbeat pulsate for collective liberation, let your imagination gallop through decolonial winds towards freedom.
