  • You may be ready to begin therapy at Calamansi Counseling if the following is in alignment for you:

    • I currently have the time, capacity, and the financial means to commit to weekly therapy

    • I am resourced enough at this time to pay in full for session costs

    • I am invested in deepening my capacity for insight and emotional vulnerability

  • Calamansi Counseling is an out-of-network provider which means we do not accept insurance. Although we do not take insurance, most of our clients are able to use their out-of-network benefits, in which they receive partial or full reimbursement for session costs through their insurance.

    KEY INFORMATION:

    • Clients are responsible for paying the full cost of their therapy session on the day of service.

    • Calamansi Counseling does not bill, preauthorize, or interact with insurance companies in any capacity.

    • We will provide you with a “superbill” if requested, within 48 hours after your session.

    • If you plan on independently pursuing reimbursement through your insurance, you would submit the superbill to your insurance company. Once they process your claim, if eligible, you will receive a reimbursement from your insurance company. The reimbursement amount depends on your specific plan, but clients have reported anywhere between 50%-100% reimbursement of their session costs.

  • Our fee is $175 per 50-60 minute individual session, $225 per 75 minute session, and $275 per 90 minute session.

The rate for couples/relationship therapy is $250 per 75 minute session.

These rates are consistent with the Fair Health Consumer Guide for the cost of care for out-of-network psychotherapy in our service area.

  • Visit our support section where you will find resources on financial assistance for therapy.

Calamansi Counseling also provides avenues for community care to make our services more accessible, beyond the 1:1 therapy room. Please visit our events page for updates on community gatherings, workshops, support groups, and more.

  • We offer a limited number of sliding scale/reduced fee spots, with the intention of creating equitable access to individuals from marginalized communities.

*At this time our sliding scale/reduced fee capacity is full and we currently have a waitlist. Please reach out if you would like to be placed on the sliding scale/reduced fee waitlist.

NOTE: Sliding scale rates are only available if you have confirmed you do not have adequate out-of-network insurance benefits. Sliding scale is not available for couple/ relationship sessions. Individual fees are adjusted based on financial privilege.

  • If you are planning on independently pursuing reimbursement with your insurance company, here are some questions to consider asking your insurance provider:

    • Does my plan have out-of-network benefits?

    • What percentage am I reimbursed for routine out-of-network behavioral health care (i.e. what is the percentage I will be reimbursed of my therapist’s fee?)

    • Do I have a deductible to meet?

    • What is the process for submitting a reimbursement claim once I receive a superbill from my therapist?

    • IMPORTANT: Since there is likely a shortage of multicultural and Asian/Arab American therapists in network with insurance, you can put in a request for an “out-of-network benefit exception” with your insurance company (the clinical reason being “cultural match/fit”). If your insurance cannot prove they have a provider who is in-network, culturally competent, and in alignment with your specific needs, they are to responsible to reimburse for out-of-network care.

  • All clients are required to have a credit or debit card on file which is stored in your HIPAA-compliant client portal and will automatically be charged on the day of your session and/or kept on file in the event of any late cancellations. Full payment is due on the day of service.
